Foxhall

Post by 9ofspades »

This board has been surprisingly dead around this coaching change... Seems to be a groundswell of support from the former players around hiring Foxhall as the new head coach.

I cant speak to him personally, but I love the idea of bringing back a CofC born&bred guy that has proven college baseball success. Just look at the success Monte had with the program. Not saying Holbrook would be a terrible choice, but would he really care about the program, or would it just be a 2-3 year stepping stone until he can jump ship?

Thoughts?

I prefer Foxhall. Holbrooks teams at SC were in a slow decline from the time he took over. A really good coach will see his teams improve. Foxhall would also be lot more likely to stay here if his teams were good

I was surprised when they hired Monte Lee over Foxhall. So that's been a few years and Foxhall has not gotten a chance elsewhere. That's really the only bad thing you can say - maybe there's a reason he hasn't.

Foxhall seemed to be an integral part of the success Pawlowski had at CofC.

Now Holbrook is pretty much out of the running according to several folks. Things quickly changed in a few hours. Looks like Foxhall will be the guy most likely.

I'm good with this. Surprised considering Roberts/Holbrook history. Good for Gardner to get involved, even if he's a Yankee.

So the fan base screaming for their school to fire Holbrook because their team was going in a downhill direction under him upset because we are not hiring him. Give me a break

John Whittle is very mad: No coach should have any confidence in the leadership of that school, be it athletic or academic. CofC should be totally embarrassed.

He writes about Gamecock sports.

Still not sure why we should care about what gamecocks think about cofc.

Just this whole story is getting play state and region-wide during a slow time of year, as it is the only thing going on, so the Columbia and Gamecock media are gonna blame CofC for everything.

A lot of people think this is like our basketball search a few years ago, when we were still looking for a coach in September, even though the President and the AD are different.

Sapakoff says Holbrook is gonna get the job today, but we'll see about that.

Holbrook had his chance and failed. Ran away by the same people now blasting us. If he is hired will be the best example of nepotism I have seen in years. Foxhall may or may not be a good head coach but he deserves a chance

Hired as Mississippi State’s pitching coach. Big move and likely CofC will never see him in the discussion again
