Steadily gone down since middle of last season. Unfortunately not much hope the administration buys contract out before end of next year.

Aren't we a few pitchers away from being better, especially with our ace out for a month+?

They made a bad hire and a lot of people thought it would be. I don't know him personally but people close were like please don't hire him, please don't hire him. And we're seeing it play out in front of us. Can he fix it? I don't think so. But I hope he proves me wrong.

In a little over a year a decent pitching staff has been transformed into a dumpster fire

6.78 ERA through 19 games. Last year was 4.37. '15 was 3.45.

Who should we start looking at for next year? This year is already a complete dumpster fire

Not sure CofC can afford to buy contract out. Do not know number of years but sure at least 4. May be stuck another year anyway

This is what happens when the athletic department is lazy and goes the convienent route for hiring the baseball coach.
As an alumni, this makes me sick to my stomach to see the baseball team mismanaged and driven into the ground. They should have never let Led out of the door!!! Pony up the damn money! The athletic department under Hull was a %%&@ show!
They need pony up the cash now- fire the coach and get a great replacement by national search committee!

I don't know if simply matching Clemson's offer, if that is even possible for COFC, would have kept Lee here.

completely agree that it certainly looks like the Athletic Dept took the easy/lazy route on the post-Monte hire.cougar2004 wrote:This is what happens when the athletic department is lazy and goes the convienent route for hiring the baseball coach.

However, the highlighted portion of your post is just as lazy.

Pony up the money to keep Lee? Clemson is paying him $350,000/year with another $200,00 in possible bonuses. College baseball is a non-revenue sport. In fact, at most schools, it loses a lot of money. Clemson can afford to pay that because of the football profits; we have no such luxury. We can barely afford to pay that kind of money to a coach for a revenue sport, much less a non-revenue sport. I'm not going to defend the previous administration, but I'm not sure we could pay that kind of money to keep any baseball coach.

This schools athletic department is too deep in debt from paying basketball coaches for not coaching they can not afford to pay a good baseball coach what he is worth

I know a 2 game win streak but against the worse team in the CAA. Be prepared for a long losing streak coming up. Hope I am wrong

I think you're wrong that athletic dept. is paying Herrion or Wojcik big dollars
I think those tabs were picked up by people named Darby and McConnell and SC ins. fund
I could be wrong

we are potentially in line for our worst season in 16 years... embarrassing. The citadel must be horrible if we swept them

Is N.Florida horrible because we beat them 20-3, or are we coming around? Probably a little of both. Is UNCW horrible because we swept them? Let's go beat the Dukes

looks to be a little bit of both... that being said, the CAA is weak and this is the first midweek game we have won all year. We lost to the same North Florida team 11-2 at home a few weeks ago. We still have a losing record so lets not get too excited yet

Next 2 weeks very critical for the direction of this team. 2 conference away series and a game at Clemson. Come out of this still tied for first maybe I will start to believe they are turning it around

Don't want to piss on your dumpster fire but I don't think a conference title is out of the question!!
UNCW was the pre-season favorite with 8 out of 9 1st place votes.
Teams to beat Elon + W&M!!
Need to solve or short term pitching hole: no Bailey or Baker
Sisk is our only full game pitcher
Ocker + Love are closers - good for 5-6 innings at most
Frishmuth + White are shakey!!
Anyone else good for 1 to 2 innings?
Who will we throw out there against CSU Wednesday?
