Re: Sand volleyball makes nationals
The College of Charleston sand volleyball team is one of four schools selected to participate in the inaugural American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Championships scheduled for April 27-29 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Other schools participating are Pepperdine, Florida State and Long Beach State.
In addition to the team championship, the tournament will feature an individual tournament with 16 pairings.
The College of Charleston’s Elyse Chubb and Lizzie Theesfeld are in pool 3, while Emily Shelton and Kelly Kolich are in pool 1.
“This is so exciting for the team and staff,” said Cougars coach Jason Kepner. “Sand volleyball is still so new to many of them, and to qualify for the Final Four shows their commitment and dedication to the school and their teammates.
“I am very excited for this opportunity and grateful to the athletic department and the College of Charleston for supporting sand volleyball in its first official NCAA season.”
