Our Lady Diamond Cougs played an outstanding double header today against NC State.
We lost game 1, 2-1. Stephanie Saylors only allowed 3 hits-1 of them was a 2 run homer.
6th inning-we got 4 hits on the board but plated 1 run.
Game 2 was quite exciting. We were getting no hit through 5. Got 2 hits in the 6th with no one crossing the plate. Hope Klicker, the freshman phenom had given up 5 hits and 2 runs. In the 7th, she stepped to the plate with 1 on and hit a towering ball that doinked the foul pole with 2 outs to tie it and send it to extras. We had a duel going on and she completed the game in the 11th when we scored a run to win 3-2.
Great win for the Cougs. They had to Chattanooga this weekend for a tough, tough series. For those that don't follow softball, Chat is the perennial power but the history in this series has CofC winning or sweeping them over the past 5 years for Chattanooga's only losses on the season. We have their number!
