Chattanooga had 11,218 in attendence for last nights home game against 11th ranked Tennessee. UT wins close 76-70
"Road wins are sweet,'' Pearl said. "This one will count like a 1.5 at the end of the year, just as much as any home win against an SEC team that isn't ranked.

"It was pretty risky coming down here tonight. Chattanooga needs this crowd in here against their Southern Conference opponents. Their fans should keep coming. Chattanooga is a very good team.''

"It feels great to get a win on the road,'' Howell said. "Our seniors remember how Chattanooga handed it to us three years ago in Knoxville. That was the low point of our season.''

Said Tyler Smith, "We knew it was going to be physical tonight. Their fans were great and the environment helped them. They played a great game.''

"That was a great basketball game," Pearl said. "Maybe for a basketball purist, it was ugly. Maybe for Tennessee fans, they would expect us to come down here and blow these guys out. That was not our expectation."

Let's not forget that Chattanooga has the best big-time atmosphere and Arena in the conference. Watched it on ESPNU. i would also beleive what the Tennessee players were saying. it looked like 7000 to 8000 were for Chattanooga

That's some atmosphere when your arena is almost 2/3's empty on most nights. Your average attendance last year was 3200, CofC's was the same and that's only because they couldn't fit anymore.

Think announcers said that there were 2900 in attendence for the Citadel game a couple nights earlier. Still, I'd be happy to draw 11,000 to the NCC for a game against Carolina and I'd bet if it did draw that well, probably 7000 Shamecock fans to our 4000.

i guess the difference is, if Chattanooga has a big-time opponent they are capable of drawing 7,000 to 8,000 ( as in the 2005 SoCon finals ) whereas C of C draws 4,000 MAX if in the NCC no matter who the opponent.......

Uh...what was the attendance at the final last year at the NCC? Box score says 8000+ for the game.

Right, all 7200 at the final were UTC fans. That would be like us claiming a turn out of 9500/8000 for the ASU/Davy games last year.

sorry to disappoint you but Greensboro only bought 250 tickets for the SoCon tourney in 2005 ??? so i guess there were 3,000 SoCon fans of other teams that stuck around after their teams lost ? get real

Why is this crap even posted in a C of C basketball forum? What does have to do with Cougar basketball? This should be in "Off Topic."

Overnight Chatty gained 7,000 to 8,000 new fans so their own board must be clogged up with all the extra traffic. Thus, forcing him/her to come here and post.
