I am sure there are tons of options that are gonna flow through Matt Roberts desk.

Though have to assume Win Case is the guy you are referring too.

Post what you hear here.

Milan Brown seems like the safest bet. Knows the system. Seems like an excellent teacher. Has HC experience.
My one big concern is his last two stops at Holy Cross and Mt St. Mary's were solid but unspectacular.
He would not last with those results here.

Would not judge anyone on record at Holy Cross. When is last time they were semi consistently good. Tough place to coach.

I think we are a year too late on Kelsey though he is probably the safest hire.
Winthrop lost one game this year beat down both Furman( who crushed us) and UNCG who represented the socon in the ncaa.

They earned a 12 seed and if they win game. It's over Kelsey is getting hired by a p5 school.
I mean by the looks of it you can pretty much pencil him in the Xavier job(his alma mater where he was associate HC).

I get that Milan coached at two places that weren't really great places to win. But that record really scares. One thing I learned from the Wójcik fiasco is that guys really are what they are.

Being mediocre at tulsa is different than holy cross. But yeah, here didn't excite me either.

Actually I hear it was the Watkins guy. I looked him up very strong background. He has been with some great coaches, just wondering would he really leave Ole Miss...

The name Win Case - Asst. at Ole Miss has come up several times.

https://olemisssports.com/sports/mens-b ... n-case/630

Has a very nice resume. Part of many successful teams at the the
JC, NAIA & Mid-Major level as a Head Coach, Asst. & Player.

Here he is for those that are curious.

Editors note that I merge some topics here to try and clean up the board not to have several running parallel

This is going to be a complete rebuild so I’d lean toward someone with HC experience. I’d call Richard Pitino but would put him behind Kelsey and Richey but doubt either would take the job. Kinda sad that in all likelihood coaches from Furman and Winthrop would turn their noses up at CofC

Scratch that. Pitino took the New Mexico job

Like I said Kelsey with his deep roots at Xavier and that team likely looking to change coaches right now. I could see why moving would be a risk.

Ritchey I think would hear us out.

I wonder if Dustin Kerns the App st. coach would listen to CofC. Previously the HC at PC and before that Mike Young's associate HC.

One last thing on Milan Brown.
I am certain that Earl is already lobbying Milan to joint him in BC. Capel has kind of treaded water at Pittsburgh and Earl could likely get him a role as lead assistant/associate at BC.
Brown has knowledge of the lay of the land in eastern Mass. Could be indispensable.

I don’t see Milan Brown happening, tho I think he could be a good fit. I have a feeling Matt Roberts is looking bigger. Milan Brown is a single, perhaps RBI double. Roberts is going for the home run, which with our luck will lead to a strikeout.

I think Kelsey would be a home run but as Matro has said, he’s likely eying Xavier. Richie McKay from Liberty would fit the same bill, but again, I think he’s going to get a bigger job than CofC and Liberty is probably a better job at this point anyway. Bob Richey has been very solid and is a young up a comer. I think he gets a serious look.

Anyone have a sense of timeframe for the hire? Took New Mexico about 15 minutes to hire Pitino jr.

George Mason also just opened up as Dave Paulsen was fired. That’s pretty equal competition with us. The Final Four bump is gone (its been 15 years).

Speaking of Dave Paulsen....
Do we kick the tires on that?
He was incredibly successful at Bucknell, but that team kind of dominates the Patriot League year in and year out.

This guy who posts about coaching rumors thinks we are going to promote Powell. We’ll see about that... You don’t just hire a search firm to hire your own assistant.

"This guy" is in his mom's proverbial basement yanmnering on twitter. His post is not worth linking.
If Powell was good enough our bigs would not be owned on the boards on the regular.
Next!

JD is a great person and a solid coach. He should get strong consideration.

With that being said, if we were simply going to promote from within, why hire a search firm and go through a 2-3 week process? I suspect this guy has heard no "rumors" but is doing what most on the internet do - make up a story out of thin air, throw it out there, and see what sticks. Don't believe 99% of what you see on Twitter.

Curious for anyone that knows who these executive search companies work.
Do they vet and whittle down the candidates to a group of finalists? Do they "make" the choice. Obviously Matt Roberts has final say. Just wondering.
