If we have success we will be able to poach players from Big South, etc. I don’t think we will have issues if we are good. A top mid major is better than a middle of the road P5

So as of today, we have 13 roster spots filled and 12 of 13 scholarships accounted for since Smart doesn't count against the scholarship limit. This is of course assuming Tucker, Copeland, Harvey and Smart are returning. Also assumes all 3 remaining Earl Grant recruits are still on track to enroll this summer.

Depth chart would look something like this:

Freshmen: Ali, Burnham, Dudley, Farrar, Harvey, Horton, Haynes, Smith
Sophomores: Tucker
Junior: Copeland
Senior: Bolon, Meeks, Smart

Has Tucker withdrawn from portal. Not positive but Bolon and Meeks have both played 4 years and do not count against ships from my understanding of Covid rules. Have heard nothing on Smart either way

I think if you read the tea leaves on Tucker...
The other guys that went into the portal were removed from the list while Tucker is still continuously listed on the roster? Why?

The bigger question is Osi in my mind.

Was told today by a usually reliable source that Smart and Tucker are both working out daily and thinking about coming back. Nothing is definitive yet and Tucker still has name in portal.

If you go by Bart Torvik’s roster projections (he’s usually pretty accurate on this), he has us as 239 right now with the current returning roster we have right now. Not including any freshman or the D2 transfer we got. That’s about 6th place in the CAA. Add Tucker and Smart and they’re up to 203.

Northeastern, Elon and JMU are all up near the top 150.

His roster projection has two players we don’t have, but it is still pretty good.

I suspect will hear within next two weeks. If they stay will probably want to take some summer classes. If not signed they would have to pay.

Well if there was ever a year that we needed to rebuild the entire roster on the fly this is it.

Maybe he is trying to get a team even in first year that is all his recruits

Tucker and Copeland in portal. Even if they come back can still sign 3 more. Smart would not count against ship if he comes back. Anyone have any clue who we may be trying to sign?

I think we bring in 3 more people if I had to guess. Probably transfers of varying ages.

CofC has signed a D3 transfer from UT Dallas, Dimitrius Underwood. Was the defensive player of the year in his conference this year. A 6-4, 215 combo guard.

Seems like a great kid.
Son of an NFL player so athletic bloodlines
National Honor Society in HS.
D3 All American

Looks like he grew a few inches in college, at least per the roster from his old school.

Does he push Tucker out is the question?

Don’t think it will affect Tucker. Kelsey uses multiple players
to keep the game moving fast and with high intensity on off.
& pressure on defense. High scorer (12 ppg) & Minutes (31)
on last years Winthrop team.

Looks like Kelsey taking his sweet time to finished filling out roster and not settling for just bodies. Lot of good players still in portal. Right now I think patience is his game, something most fans do not have. Very good group already signed.

Almost the entire roster turned over so it was going to take some time to fill it out, but I think Kelsey has been moving fairly quickly. This team will look completely different even in year one.

Six were announced initially. Since only one ship announced. At this point he is not rushing. That is a good thing.

Seemed ok with staying.
Then he declares and within a couple days has committed to a place that he has no obvious natural connection(who BTW just turned over their staff).

His name never added to updated roster. The other early signee, Horton, was added and still on it. Horton is a 3 star.

Horton checks off every single box as a men's basketball student-athlete. He is the type of athlete, who you love having as your teammate, but hate having as your opponent. Rae brings versatility, authentic leadership, hustle and skill to the table on a uniquely consistent basis. Defensively, he can successfully guard all five positions at the prep school level. Offensively, he brings an extremely impressive blend of toughness and basketball IQ. He is the best offensive rebounder I've ever coached – and above all – he makes winning plays in the biggest moments for his team. It's been a privilege and an honor to work with Raekwon and his family. I am elated to know he is in good hands at the College of Charleston next year." – Vermont Academy Head Coach Alex Popp

"(Raekwon) Horton is a big wing who is going to be capable of playing multiple positions at the next level. He plays with an attacking mentality, puts immediate pressure on opposing defenses, and is especially good in the open floor. From everything I've seen, I would fully expect him to be able to make an immediate impact in the CAA." – Adam Finkelstein of the New England
Ps: Smart and Tucker both still on roster. Is this a good indication they are both coming back?
