Need to cut down on fouls also. Rebounding won this game. Best rebounding team in years and a guard leads the wayhungry wrote:Cut out the turnovers and that was fun and impressive. Tulane announcers said CAA should beware of Cougars. It's good to be deep. It's better when those 3's drop, right Swamp?

Re: Tulane
Tulane was much weaker without Cook.
They were drilling tough %%&@ early while we off them mark. As the game went on the shooting evened itself out. Also in the second half we were defending the basket with the guy that called nothing which helped.
The depth of the Kelsey system is so tough to beat for a mid major/low major. Last 10 minutes the wheels came off for Tulane.

Reyne Smith quietly with another 15 point game even at only 3 of 9 from 3. That was a workman-like effort tonight especially after being down 9 in the first half. They could have easily folded up there but they didn’t.
Tulane only had 653 fans tonight in that gym. And it looked like less than that. Probably 50 or so were CofC fans. You could hear them on the TV late.
I think our conditioning is starting to play a part in these second halves. It didn’t work out in a couple of games earlier, but during this game it did.

Nice to see the guys not hang their heads after a frustrating loss. I agree with Matro - Tulane was not the same without Cook - but a road win is a road win.
Five guys in double figures scoring, nine chipping in 5+ points. Ali picked a great time to get hot - reminded me of Marquise Pointer in the CAA Championship. A 40-29 rebounding margin against an AAC team is also a great sign.
We still have to correct the fouling and turnover issues, and the closeout of that game was far from perfect. Fortunately we had a 17-point cushion rather than a 7-10 point cushion. But it's always better to learn those lessons and still walk out with a W.

Re: Tulane
Tulane basketball shut down due to COVID cases with next two games cancelled. They have a vaccine mandate for employees and students so these have to be breakthroughs with the new variant or Delta.
