Around the CAA

Post by Cougie Monster »

Not a great opening night for the CAA. Delaware got blasted by Davidson, NU lost to Colgate and Hofstra fell apart down the stretch and blew a great chance against Houston.

Hofstra finish was brutal.
Capped off by the Earl Grant special no set dribble off clock for a long contested three when Hofstra had the last possession in regulation. They got rattled, unfortunately. Would have been a great win for the conference.

Delaware
Didnt watch the game. They faced one of those 3 pointer differential tsunami. At one point in the second half three point shooting was about 70% to 17% in favor of Davidson. It is close to impossible to win a game like that.

CAA 17-14 through last night? JMU looking very good so far. They are not eligible for CAA tourney though.

Hofstra let another late lead against a top 20 P5 school slip. Up 4 on Maryland with a minute left. Such a shame that they havent been able to close the deal. They are clearly a solid team though.

Nice night for the conference. JMU with their first ever win over UVA and Northeastern took down UMASS. W&M is god awful but the rest of the conference, for the most part) has been quite sporty.

Saw William and Mary lost to Hampton, that was probably their best shot at a D1 win this season. Do they have players out or are they just that bad?

UNCW getting blown out by Jacksonville today, lost like they'll be in a redbone for 2nd to last with Elon.

Firing Shaver(particularly since he was about to trot out his most talented squad in years) was a catastrophic error on by WM.

Dane Fisher is not a D1 level recruiter and it remains to be seen that he is a D1 level coach. He has turned WM into a middling Patriot League team.
Cupboard is empty now so they will have to spend some money.

UNCW was so desperate to rekindle the Keatts magic they may have made a mistake was well. In retrospect probably should have hired Mark Byington.

W&M just doesn’t have talent. Their only win is over a first-year D3 program Mary Baldwin, and only like 1 or 2 guys are even CAA caliber (Blair and maybe Wight).

Bart Torvik doesn’t have them favored in another game the rest of the year! They’re progged as double digit underdogs in every game other than the two UNCW games, Elon and Drexel at home.
