From OntheRadarHoops: San Diego State, Utah, College of Charleston, are the latest schools to inquire about 12' SG Justin Seymour Wheeler HS (GA)

Re: Recruiting
Utah and C of C have offered on him. Seymour is a 6'3, 195 SG, and already has offers from over a dozen schools, including VCU and Ole Miss. He is from Campbell HS, not Wheeler.

Bring on the Local kid! I'd bet he would have earned himself a scholarship sooner than later.
He's never been to a CofC game, but Loves Goudelock, and what CofC did to Goudelock

Re: Recruiting
"2012 PG Shea Jones (Weston, FL) has an offer from Presbyterian College with North Texas, College of Charleston, Siena, FAU, Penn, Colgate, Wofford and Longwood showing strong interest. Jones is a true point that has showed well on the circuit and is one to watch!!" He is 6-0, 150 with growing to do, probably.

Re: Recruiting
I believe Shea Jones, the one that we were talking about earlier, is the son of ESPN announcer Mark Jones. Hopefully we can get him. He needs to gain some more weight, but if that happens he could be more of a major prospect.

6-3, 185 pound G Melvin Johnson of St. Benedict's final four: College of Charleston, Miami, Virginia Tech and South Florida. He visits Va. Tech Friday.
He went to Rice HS, but left as that venerable athletic program dissolved.

If I'm a young player looking to move to a new program, I would have to like CofC's deep roster of promising young players that could lead to years of successful basketball.charlestondxman wrote:NYPost_Brazille Zach Braziller

Hope Bobby can pull it off. Uphill battle against 2 ACC schools and another school close to home.
Note to Altered Ego- the mouse pointer is still marroon and so disappears against the box's background. Other than that, 10-4.

Rumor has it we may be in the market for a Juco transfer for 2012-2013. He went to West Ashley and is looking to play D1 ball closer to home. If USC or Clemson get involved it'll be tough. I hear LSU and Arizona St are currently in the mix, but that we may be the front runner. Could definitely fill the void for Wiggins.
According to Rivals, D'Montre Edwards is having his visit this week. http://rivals.yahoo.com/jucojunction/ba ... ge_choices

Re: Recruiting
Melvin Johnson visited Virginia Tech(9/3) and loved it stating they were his leader at the time and then he visited South Florida. He has since visited Miami this past weekend(9/17) AND Higgins is now coming to check the kid out. He must be legit with some of the schools interested in him. Wonder if that list of four still stands strong. Was Bobby and his staff able to get a visit out of the young man?samwithans wrote:If I'm a young player looking to move to a new program, I would have to like CofC's deep roster of promising young players that could lead to years of successful basketball.charlestondxman wrote:NYPost_Brazille Zach Braziller

Told Melvin Johnson @M_Johnson4 will not visit College of Charleston and could decide this week between them, Miami, V Tech and South Fla.

Great news. While CofC looks less likely to land Mr. Johnson, as CofC was the one of four which Mr. Johnson did not visit, let's hope the young man in his heart knew he was a cougar, and wanted to just take three free visits . It's a big optimistic sure, but eh, why not? BARU landed at CofC after cutting his list to four, w/ CofC the smallest of the schools listed, most of which were ACC opposition as well.charlestondxman wrote:Yesterday, @NYPost_Brazille Zach Braziller

If not, the hunt ensues for the 2012 & 2013 Class, and CofC prays for all of the 2011 class to be declared eligible by the clearing house for the rapidly approaching 2011 Campaign.

Re: Recruiting
How many scholarships are available?
With if Johnson commited today, and Edwards is visiting this weekend.
Hypothetically, if only one scholarship was available, does the first guy to verbally commit get the scholarship if they are both offered? Or is there an official signing period going on soon for the 2012 Class?

You would get very pissed about the Sundberg redshirt Seriously, they find ways to get them both if they really want them. Attrition etc.

Why the hypothetical situations. Only 12 ship players on the roster right now. This is Wiggins and Sundbergs last season.
