Another big game today on the road against Elon. Elon just lost in OT at home to UNCW in a very tight ball game on Thursday. This game is on College Sports Live (CBS’s version of ESPN3) with Jeff McCarragher (our former radio voice) and Mack McCarthy calling it.

Hopefully we can find a way to get a road win in a tough atmosphere. This is pretty much a tossup according to all the ratings services.

we've done very well at alumni gym, but this game scares me because Elon went 13 of 40 from 3 against UNCW, I could see them bouncing back for 20+ tonight.

Not a league championship contender if we keep losing on the road

We will be lucky to finish higher than 5th. Scored 20 points in paint first half. 2 second half. Why are we settling for long shots when our percentage out there is miserable

Still came within a Chealey 3 halfway down of going to OT. Our defense kept us in this game at the end, but now the offense is ailing at points when it can’t be. Way too many possessions of settling for bad 3 point shots. That was a game we should have held on to.

Just an ugly night. I spent as much time refreshing my feed on my iPad as watching it. We’ve gone from national TV games to it being a big deal for our game to be on CBS’s version of ESPN3.

CofC now has 3 of 4 at home (starting with UNCW on Thursday), and the road game a winnable one at Delaware before we play at Northeastern and Hofstra back to back. We have to get on a winning streak, otherwise we will be in trouble. Not like anybody is going to get an at-large the way this league is going this year.

We shoot about 10-15% better(from 3) at TD arena than we do anywhere else. Too bad the CAA tournament is at the NC coliseum.

The defense was ok I felt. Elon just got tired legs and missed a ton of good looks in that second half. They kept running their offense. I am not sure what we were thinking on offense, and why the guys felt getting into a 3 point shooting contest with Elon was the right thing to do.

How many travels where there? 5?
If its fatigue then give the bench more minutes. At this point it doesnt matter as long as you arent on the bottom 4 nothing else matters. Yet again the bench utilization was a joke.

Earl is at a crossroads he has to think long and hard about how to fix this. Its so late in the game.

I really think as a coaching staff we need to tinker with our shot distribution. Riller and Brantley are both shooting over 50% from the field on the season while Joe is at 37%, yet taking way more shots, even as the PG on the team.

I'd like to see Marquise get more time at PG with Joe at SG rotating with Riller.

Could Jasper play this semester?
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Just think if he could give us 10-15 minutes at #2 or #3 while Pointer comes in at #2 or #3. Assuming of course that Smart plays again now. He looks ready.

NCAA or C of C decision? If latter, it should be considered if we want to win CAA tournament
BTW- I of course meant Pointer at #1 or #2

Do we really need more than Chealey, Cam, Riller and Pointer at guard?

I would argue yes, especially since we play stretches of small ball where all are on the floor. Too many minutes = tired legs.

Was going to pop in the same thing Cougie
We play that small ball lineup a lot. 4 guards + Brantley.
Its distorting our sub patterns

Evan is getting phased out, cause if he is only getting 7 minutes against Elon and 1 against NU I am not sure where he picks up minutes.

Brevin did not really look ready the few time he had been out there.

Yep. Bailey is basically a 3 point shooter only. And he’s only made 13 3s this year. 4/8 from 2 point land. 3 3s against Cal Poly, 3 against North Greenville, 2 against Drexel and Sam Houston State.

Pointer has made 39% of his 3s, while Brantley in 8 games has made almost 43%.

CofC decision. He's being redshirted. No need to waste an entire year of eligibility to squeeze a few minutes out of him over the course of a few games. Also, he is not anywhere near game ready. Galloway is much more ready for game action, and he has looked lost at time. Jasper may be very good in the future but anyone thinking that he is going to be a savior for us this year is a little delusional.

Delusional is my middle name.
Actually didn't propose him as savior; what I said was 10-15 minutes spelling mostly Riller, with Pointer mostly playing point. I also said if Smart was back, he could play front court- therefor instead of Evan, so Evan could spell Cam. Guys will need to get some rest.
#1- Chealey- Pointer
#2- Riller- Gallagher or Jasper
#3- Johnson- Bailey
I didn't know he'd lose a year. I thought if he played this semester, he'd lose his senior year spring semester, and who knows what happens between now & then. I'd like to do what we can to make Joe's senior year special- like the Dance. We're short a guard to do that. Maybe Gallagher will come back with some decent minutes.
We are welcoming any more delusional alternative proposals at this time.

Hungry, I do not normally agree with Comp Time (at one point thought he was Wojcik's cousin he defended him so much) but remember Jasper also had some academic issues so no reason to bring him out for what would be very few minutes also. Let's face it, we just need to keep getting better as only chance for post season is win the CAA tournament as I do not think we are going to win the regular season and automatic NIT bid. I will be shocked if we can win three games in three days but you never know. The 3 point shooting gods could be with us at that point. I am sure the CAA is praying for that also or we could see a very empty North Charleston Coliseum.

Just trying to pull another guard out of the hat.
Hope our guards can hold up. It's gonna be a long road.
Actually for our front court, too, especially if Smart doesn't finish the season.
So far our starters seem to like the extra minutes. They don't want to come out.
