Added non D1 game as sounds like this is going to be regular game and probably either North Greenville or Anderson everytime. I miss the Cremins days as this game should only be added when you have exhausted all 351 D1 options. Hopefully they will change the RPI where it will count against you for playing these games.
Well going to go ahead and start the thread as excited we are back in the ESPN tournament rotation. Hope we can get back to playing all D1 schedules and hope we get a couple of money games next season. Hearing Puerto Rico tourney for the year after.
1. Old Spice Classic in Orlando 2. Old Spice Classic in Orlando 3. Old Spice Classic in Orlando 4. at Oklahoma State (non bracketed game) 5. Coastal Carolina 6. at Western Carolina 7. at Siena 8. UNC-Charlotte 9. Rhode Island 10. Presbyterian 11. SC State 12. ? 13. Non D1 game

The last couple of games will be starting a home and home on the road and another guarantee game (SC State probably). I am still hoping they will surprise me and can the non D1 game but if we are going to play a game that does not count lets play a D3 or an NCCAA school like Atlanta Christian. Hoping complaining will get us a full D1 schedule as article in paper on Gonzaga comparison failed to mention they were willing to play anybody, anywhere, anytime and did not mention C of C scheduling at all which has obviously not been near the scheduling of Gonzaga. Go Cougars as lets not let another 19 years go without going back to the dance.

More and more schools are scheduling non D-1 schools, which really is no different than every football team allowed to schedule 1 D-2 school each season. If I run a program, I want all the practice games I can get. It has no bearing at the end of the season, so just look at it as an exhibition.

Chucktowndan are you kidding. We play one exhibition game every year against a non D1 and can play 2 if we do not play a controlled scrimmage. Not everyone plays these games as regular season games (entire MAAC conference played all D1) and we should not be playing them unless they are actually an exhibition game and not a regular season game. You know it counts against you for chances at getting an at large bid for an NCAA or NIT bid. Why would you want to waste a game that no one is going to attend and that the non D1 counts as an exhibition and that does not count in the RPI or Sagarin for us. Come on we can be more like Gonzaga but we have to upgrade the scheduling and that does not include playing Toccoa Falls or Atlanta Christian. Trust me you are getting the non D1 as it will be North Greenville or Anderson. Bobby Cremins gave us six years of all D1 schedules so it can be done.

First class programs do not play non-D1 opponents. To compare this situation to football is a poor comparison as well, because the top SEC and ACC programs in basketball do not play non-D1 opponents.
We need to play more power 5 teams if we ever want to win a NCAA tournament game. It was clear that Auburn's athleticism was a shock to our system.

I'd love all our OOC games to be against the ACC & SEC. Trouble is, those coaches really aren't going to want to play us, especially with a return here, even 2 for 1. Some did it as a favor to Bobby. Does anyone owe Earl Grant anything, with the exception of Gregg Marshall. It's been uphill even to get Brownell to play us- Bobby beat them on their court last time we played & lost to USC in OT on their court.

Hungry, you do realize we have 351 D1 schools. No one is saying all P5 either just a nice balanced all D1 schedule. Lets employ the Gonzaga way of playing anybody, anywhere, anytime. We will have more teams wanting to schedule us due to our RPI this season.

It would seem to me that we should look at A10 schools for non-conference games and potential non-conference rivalries. We are playing URI but a St. Bonaventure or VCU would make sense by offering us good competition while offering limited downside to the A10 schools if they lost to us. I think an A10-CAA conference competition similar to teh Big12-SEC early in the season would be good for both conferences too.
On a selfish note, CofC should play University of Houston so I could drive to the game! Seriously, if UH would play CofC it is an easy nonstop Southwest flight for CofC or UH. Again, a high level opponent that would not have huge downside if they lost to us while vastly improving our SoS from last year. It would be an interesting match-up considering that we seem to recruit some of the same player according to verbalcommits.com.

If we keep getting invited to ESPN tournaments that will give us several good OOC games every year.

schedule is pretty much finished as only detail is whether we are playing North Greenville or Anderson. Stinks as so many teams still looking for games and we settle for a non D1 game this early in the process. Got to get that free win that does not count I guess. Last game added was home and home with VCU and we start there.

UNC-Charlotte 9. Rhode Island 10. Presbyterian 11. SC State 12. at VCU 13. Non D1 game (North Greenville or Anderson)

Schedule has been officially released. First regular season game Election Night (Nov. 6) against Presbyterian. Road game on the 10th at WCU before our home game against URI. Eisberg was mad that we don’t have Citadel or CSU on the schedule again. It doesn’t make sense to him that we don’t play the other local teams. https://cofcsports.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=324

As long as CSU and ElCid require us to pay them to play a game, they aren't going to show up on the schedule. Eisberg should talk to the AD at both of those schools and convince them to play us straight up with no "buy" involved.

I apologize as Georgia College is our non D1 regular season game as never heard of them. If anyone wants my parking pass, tickets and hospitality bracelets for this one just send me a pm. Sad with so many teams still looking for games.
