Did I read it right the other day in the Newsless Courier that Wes Moore, the current head coach of UTC's women's basketball team, was interviewed for the job at CofC in 1998 when Melissa Sloan was hired? If he was, does anyone who posts here know why he didn't get or take the job? Maybe SeenItAll? If he had gotten the job here would he have been able to recruit the quality of players that he has at UTC? This is just a curiosity question, not a criticism. I want to figure out if CofC can draw good female basketball athletes, whether it is the image of the college or a coach's recruiting ability or both.

I do not know the reason or reasons he did not get the job.

He came and visited for the weekend but from what I understand was not "offered" the final position.

He was just a candidate for the job.

I had heard that one of Moore's questions in the interview was how much Coach Kresse made. That probably threw up a red flag with JB and company. Of course, it still may have been worth it, look how long it is taking Coach Wilson (who is a good coach) to rebuild the program that Melissa and Kathy ruined. The progress that Coach Wilson has made is tremendous and with the freshman coming in next year it is on the rise. Since, at the rate our men's program is falling, in two years (when Jade is a Junior and not making those freshman mistakes and the incoming freshmen have played a year in the system) the women's program might have the better record and the most success.

I think Wes Moore would have been able to recruit here. If he couldn've gotten the players he has gotten at a school like Chattanooga, then imagine what he would have here.
