Easy to say now but Heath may not be the guy. I assume he gets another year of two but what are you hearing/thoughts...

He has to go plain and simple... the ship is sinking fast and our program is falling apart. losing record and playing in the CAA aint going to cut it

He's gonna get at least a third year I feel. He has a very young team. Other than Roper and Ober, pretty much everybody else is supposed to come back next year. Logan McRae could get drafted, but he'll probably be back as well.

Next year, I feel is the year he has to win.

So you think this team better than the 2014 team because they lost a game to El Cid. Your reasoning has me LMAO

I was thinking (you do know what that is?) more of the Remley's Point teams w/good old Ralph. I think we're better than that.
You said (w/o thinking) it's the worst team in history, which means ever, which is not anyone else's opinion.

Worst record ever in what is a very weak conference this year. Does not require much thought to call this worst team ever.

It didn't help that Ryan Brown left. Along with Pappas, who basically quit baseball. And Jones, along with 2 or 3 other pitchers. We could have used the pitching depth.

A few others left when Lee left. Next year is the key year.

Coach C had three years of 16, 17, and 18 wins. So definitely not the worst team CofC has ever had.

He will get a 3rd year. What concerns me the most:

1) how are his relationships with other coaches in the state that cost us games? It's rare that we don't play SC when they played every single school in the state. Wonder why we are suddenly left out?

2) the transfer rate is alarmingly high. It's quite likely that we will have another high transfer rate after this season. Speaking of transfers, I wonder why our pipeline to the baseball factory up at SMC has suddenly stopped?

3) the APR for baseball has sunk very fast, almost to probationary levels. Now, the APR index is not kind to a draft heavy sport like baseball. Lose a point for a loss of player to the draft but gain it back if a student athlete comes back to graduate. A transfer is a loss no matter what so if another mass defection occurs this year, this will be a major problem. Still, it's now the lowest figure in the state and by a mile. If he gets a 3rd year, this will be a major metric come the end of next season.

4) the way he treats these players is just shocking some times. Not going to air dirty laundry but this is almost a Wojick temper issue.

5) no way he can continue doing the pitching and head coaching duties. He MUST hire a pitching coach. Period.

All in all, Matt Heath is a helluva pitching coach that has done a pretty good job over the years. Head coaching. Not his thing, IMO. His expectations are extremely high and players have risen to the challenge of meeting them. For me, I hope he comes to the realization that he can make a very good living just being a pitching coach. Look at Bud Foster at Va Tech. Defensive coach all his life with no desire to be a head coach. Why not you say? Must be nice to be paid over $1 million to do a job you love. Scott Foxhall. Another example. Pitching coach his entire career. Paid really well at State. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Matt and his contributions to CoFC over the years. Outside of baseball, a very nice guy with a lovely family but I do have to stand against the decision to continue being a head coach before he buries us into the ground.

Heath has gotten a job again... He is the new pitching coach at Tennessee-Martin.
