Top 3 seeds already determined with us as a 3 most likely. 4 through 10 still to be determined. Elon and UNCW only 2 teams that will definately play on Sat. Of possible 6th place teams I prefer Del or Drexel..I say Drexel because they just lost their leading scorer( Harper) for the rest of what is left of the season with a broken foot. Del we match up good with and they have been terrible last 4 weeks.

That is devastating for them.
Didn't know about.

Same TV as last year. CAA.TV for Saturday March 9 play-in and Sunday, then CBSSN for rest.

4 through 6 possibilities so muddled right now it is impossible to accurately predict how it will come out. Any team 4-8 right now could possible be 6 and our Sun opponent.

It’s nice that we won’t have to face Hofstra until the championship game... just need to get through our 3v6 matchup and I think we will be able to get through the semifinal and set up a clash vs probably Hofstra

If all the favorites win this week 4th Wm & Mary, 5th JMU 5th and Del 6th. Do not believe all the favorites have won any week this season.

Don’t love the draw but we should take care of Drexel. We out played them both times this year and I just can’t fathom a third late collapse. Then things get sticky... I’m more worried about NE honestly. They play us well, are deep, well coached, experienced etc. I think Hofstra is hitting the wall. Only playing 7 guys will catch up to you at some point, a la some of the early Cremins teams.

If I were setting the lines on tourney champ, I’d likely put NE 1, Hof 2, cofc 3 but the odds wouldn’t be tremendously different.

On the one hand, we've won 9 of 11, have "home court" advantage and maybe our best bench in a decade. On the other hand, Drexel has played us tough the past three times we've played them, and some of the turnovers and lapses in the final regular season game have me concerned. Galloway and Pointer could drop 12 apiece, or combine for 0. Miller could drop 10 and 6, or 2 and 2. Zep could shoot 3-4 from three, or 0-4. We could score 86 or 66 and neither would surprise me.

Coach would be fine with 68 if Drexel scores less than that.
He said in paper today the shots don't always fall so you have to defend & rebound (just like in the '80's & '90's).

Agree when you’re playing UNCW...but if we go out and score 5 points in 10 minutes like yesterday against NU or HU....we are toast. I’ve said all along, it wouldn’t surprise me to see us lose in the quarters and it wouldn’t surpise me to see us cut down the nets again. I hope Earl will have this team ready and focused and under control...we have a very short leash with officials now and can not afford stupid technical fouls anymore! The guys have got to understand that and behave accordingly.

The top 3 teams have all lost to teams playing on Sat this year. Nothing will surprise me this year.

Taking my previous post a step further. If UNCW and Towson win Sat the 4 top seeds will be playing a team.Sun that beat them during the regular season

Yeah it is really strange how the bottom of the league has done well against the top.
I prefer Drexel to UNCW(Rival), JMU(always plays us tough) or Towson(their style is more effective in the barn where no one can shoot) all who have lower seeds right now.
Drexel is well coached and can shoot well enough from 3 that on a bad offensive day it could spell trouble.
I just think without Harper it is a bridge too far.
He(Harper) willed them back in the first game. Poured in 30 in the second.
We should be able to score at will against them. The have no answer for Grant or Jarrell.

NU seems like the strongest team in the league right now. Assuming the chips fall as predicted the Monday night game against them should be epic.
We are a tough matchup for them. We make them work for their points more than anyone and can manufacture enough scoring ourselves to beat them

My bold prediction is that the winner of the possible NU-CofC game wins it all. Though if I had to bet I would say NU beats us Monday.

Not any game in this tourney I would bet on. The regular season winner has lost to 2 of the bottom 4 teams this year.

Interesting. Quick glance at the numbers, KenPom would have NU favored over Hof in the final if that scenario came to fruition. Too lazy to do the math of a cofc Hof final.

Take another quick glance, that's not what that says at all.

Those numbers also don’t account for the home court advantage Charleston has. This model has CofC at about 25% to win the title if you give them 1/2 a home court advantage, and almost 33% if you give them a full HCA.

Conventional wisdom says pick Hofstra all the way but really, this is Northeastern’s tournament to lose. Of the top 3, they are peaking going into the tournament. Question is if Occeus is back or not. Haven’t heard any update for awhile. We are their only loss since the end of January.
Hofstra has limped across the line and we aren’t that good to win it this year. Maybe we are bottling up our best efforts of the year for the tourney? Who knows. Do we get more technicals than Harris has points in the tourney this year?
Tournament ticket sales are down from what I hear through the grapevine. Seems more CAA fans are pessimistic about their teams chances than most of our fans are. I expect walk up ticket sales to be quite brisk, just like last year. Hofstra fans seem to be in a wait and see mode while Northeastern brings literally no one but parents to any tourney much less a home game.

Saw Vegas odds to win the CAA Tournament on one website:

Hofstra +150
Northeastern +215
Charleston +300
W&M +1450

Everyone else has much longer odds.

Some on Hofstra board trying to decide whether to come here or save the money for their NCAA games. Who do they think they are, Wofford?
Actual discussion on UNCW board re:leaving CAA and going to SoCon, maybe with us? Ha!
