And after that who knows. Will be tough. Probably double digit dogs.

Its LSU's first quasi-road game, and they have a really young team. Never know how that will affect their flow.

Naz Reid is gonna be a matchup nightmare for us. Looks a lot like Nathan Knight of William and Mary. Plays similar. Big bodied kid that has outside touch. We have to see if Nick can man him straight up. Force him to dribble around.

Otherwise kind of your standard SEC type team.
Will Wade is from the HAVOC/Shaka tree. More ball denial stuff.

As swamp said though. We have to shoot better. Hopefully this is the game that Grant snaps out of his funk

Only odds I have found show us 6.5 point dogs. Just decent shooting from field and free throw line will keep it winnable. Missed at least a dozen wide open shots and shot poorly from free throw line cost us at Okla St

Yes, ESPNU. All the games are on the ESPN Networks, including ESPN2, ESPNU and the ESPN3 streaming platform.

Just too much athleticism tonight. Brantley carried us most of the game. 27 points in front of a lot of pro scouts. No one else though had more than 11 (Galloway). Everybody else that played had 5 or less.

Starting off down 18-5 in the first 7 minutes or so doomed us. We actually outscored LSU the rest of the game (50-49).

Let’s hope Riller finds his way scoring the rest of the tourney.

20% from 3 and 63% on free throws. That is what beat us. We outrebounded them, had fewer turnovers and fewer fouls. We are going to struggle every game unless our shooting gets much better. Riller gets double teams almost every time he gets the ball.because there la zero respect for our other guards at this point

defense played damn good holding them.20 points below their season ave

We seem to be hampered by preseason/early injuries the last few years. Maybe adjustments needed on training schedule? i dunno, just thinking aloud. It pays off late season with our rooks but nov & dec sucks.

Offense is spuddering except Brantley!
Riller in a slump?
Good to see Pointer get a few minutes! He is the
steady hand we need at the point!

Need to stop bringing the ball down on the sides
and picking up our dribble to make a pass or waiting
for a pick. Teams are keying on this and our ball handler
is getting doubled down on and trapped.

I may have missed it but have watched the game twice and never saw Pointer come in. The announcers several times said he would be out a few more weeks. He is not in the box score

Did Pointer play? I didn't see him on the court or in the boxscore.

On the plus side, we can't get much worse from three. Our 23.2% as a team is one of the 10 worst marks in all of Division I basketball right now. Riller is shooting 5% from deep on the season (1-20). He was so efficient last year, I don't know if it's the point guard duties throwing him off, the double-teams, the length of OSU and LSU or just a case of the yips. But I'm not sure I would've guessed preseason that one of the 3 best players in the CAA would be struggling this bad over 3 games. We're starving for offense as is (can one of our three centers average more than 2 points per game?), so taking Riller out and falling into one of those 15 point deficits is just killer.

Silver lining is that Brantley is still a beast - I missed watching him go against big schools last year. Galloway and McManus are better than last year (and statistically our best shooters). McManus and Zep should be solid reserves come CAA play, with maybe Richard, Moore and Miller thrown in too. Way more depth than last year.

I'm trying to take the W&M fan approach - we'll take some lumps playing young guys over injured vets, but it should pay off long term.

The greatest shame of last year is that we never got to play a P5 team with the big 3 actually there. We technically had Joe for Auburn but he was on one leg and it showed.

At this time for us to be competitive against a P5 level team we must have someone(not named Brantley) step up and hit a jump shot consistently.

Also the cougar D wasnt as good. They carved us up. 18 Assists! over 50% shooting? Now a lot of that stemmed from our offensive ineptitude since they were just beating us down the court on misses.
Clearly some of these defensive woes stem from the underclassmen being used extensively. So you hope with time it will get better.

Riller will get his confidence back. The next three games should help.
I think someone else has to step up.
