TD Arena looks great on ESPN2. Great marketing for the school / program.

Went to the Davy/Wich game. Great Crowd and they were very much into the game
despite both teams not shooting well. Davy hit the big shot when they needed it to win.
Both teams try to play really fast which made things a little sloppy at times. Both teams, as well as Purdue, traveled very well. Lot's of fans!

Tonight was impressive. Purdue and Wichita State both brought at least 1,000 fans. Purdue probably closer to 1,500. Davidson brought a couple hundred or so, and App State didn’t have many at all.

If Purdue and Wichita had played, it would have been a NCAA-like atmosphere.

From what I can tell, Purdue/VA Tech was the biggest game in college hoops last night. That's great publicity for the arena, the school and the team. The event is such a good asset to have.

Also very good attendance compared to some of these tourneys. Almost 4,000 in the stands last night with the night session. Pretty good on a Sunday night with Davidson the only real local team. No session drew an announced attendance less than 2,600.

I remember the first 3-4 years when if CofC wasn’t in, we were struggling to get four figures for this tourney.

I think they've found their niche - invite teams with programs who have well traveling fans, ideally from colder areas who would welcome Charleston in the late fall (Dayton comes to mind, and Purdue this year). Fill out the rest with intriguing teams within driving distance.

Next year's field is solid too, minus our friends in Towson. Wish W&M or UNCW would get the CAA spot. Otherwise, UConn, Florida, Xavier, Miami, Penn State should bring some crowds.
