How many ships do we have left? Including Osi if he choses to leave and any idea who we may look to fill those ships.

We have given 4 ships:
D’Avian Houston 6’1 PG Signed RJ Ogom 6’5 SF/PF Signed Cam Copeland 6’6 SG/SF Committed Keegan Harvey 6’11 C/PF Committed
Osi will graduate. If he decides to forgo his final year of eligibility we will have 1 ship to give.
Need a proven scorer any position or center!

We just signed some JUCO PF named Jordan Guest Played at BU then transferred to tallahassee cc. If he went to BU he is likely a good student. Seems like a similar build to the other PF we signed. https://youtu.be/bo1BCsgXgCIMix looks like another Sam clone. Seems fairly athletic.

Jordan Guest is a 3 star kid with 3 years of eligibility. Looks like a more athletic version of Sam Miller. Also looks a little like Willis Hall. Seems like he can bang a little, rebound, athletic, decent post moves, can ball handle and run the floor, and shot 36% from 3 in college so far. We'll see how he does, but looks good on paper.
In 1 recruiting cycle, we went from the most undersized team in the CAA to one of the biggest. Our centers next year are Osi at 6'9" 240 and the Australian kid at 6'11" 220. Power forwards are Jordan Guest at 6'9" 220 and Donta King at 6'7"250. Epps and Ogom both 6'5" 215. Not sure about Samba, but he's also 6'9" 225. Interior defense and rebounding look to be much improved with that kind of size and athleticism.

Javarzia Belton C 6'10 240 committed to Southern Miss. Not one in-state player, which is not all bad, but we had quite a few offers for C/PF and didn't get one of them! Happy with the two we did get: Harvey 6'11 & Guest 6'9 Both Similar to Miller but appear to have much better inside games, rebounding & foot work.

Better footwork than Miller? Your Boykin Spaniel has better footwork than Miller. I liked having Miller, glad he rehabbed here (bless his heart), but his feet were never in the right place on offense or defense.

Today's P&C Andrew Miller says in addition to 2 signees & 2 commits we think we have a graduate transfer coming in from a Power 5 school. No on-site visits allowed so all recruiting is virtual. Charleston & campus still telegenic.

Weird that the article doesn't mention Jordan Guest at all...

The Kaleb Brown thing is interesting. Obviously they feel they can offer him early minutes with Jaylen leaving. I am assuming given all the restrictions, you offer a kid like that then you feel like you have a realistic shot of getting him. This summer Grant will get drafted(essentially a foregone conclusion) giving Earl two straight draftees and three straight classes with a kid that went to the NBA despite starting off unheralded. Also the neutered off-season, was kind of a blessing for us since it didn't allow any other teams/players to make a name for themselves via March Madness.
The Grad Transfer? They better be really good. I don't think they are good for the program. Either Earl has started to feel the heat and now is concerned about having a legit down year, or he is snakebitten from so many 4 year recruits washing out. Maybe both.

Here is what we have: D’Avian Houston 6’1 PG Signed RJ Ogom 6’5 SF/PF Signed Cam Copeland 6’6 SG/SF Committed Jordan Guest 6'9 PF Committed Keegan Harvey 6’11 C/PF Committed
We are maxed out on Scholarships. Osi is scheduled to graduate. If he doesn't return we will have one more to give.
Kaleb Brown in 2021 recruit.

Google says he's a 6'4" combo guard, mostly played point, was 44% 3-point shooter in high school, played Vanderbilt before Minnesota. We'll see what our new mix is someday.

Suspect D'avian Houston preps/redshirts. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pl ... melog/2020Solid numbers on a sub par P5 school not great. Seemed to fall off as the season went on. Are we looking for untapped potential here? Can he give more than Jaylen Richard? This creates a logjam in the backcourt.

He was 6th in the Big Ten in 3pt% (35.6%) and 4th in made threes per game (2.1). We needed shooting.
Edit - scratch those rankings, must've been looking at the wrong stats. But 57 made threes despite a late season injury is not too shabby.

Designated Voice of Reason said - "This creates a logjam in the backcourt." That's why James Naismith invented redshirts.

The fact that Guest isn't mentioned in Miller's article leads me to believe he changed his mind or something fell through. Hence the commitment from Payton Willis, a 6'5"combo guard who we tried to get 2 years ago when he left Vandy. Good scorer who can really shoot, which is something this team will need.

Thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing these 5 on the court. Lots of good shooters and ball handlers.

Quote: 2020 Recruit Review Audio a little choppy & the bird!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QDQt9K ... e=youtu.be Pretty insightful video. Funny how the third time was the charm with Willis, but it's cool to know he has a good relationship with the coaches. Good stuff too on Harvey. Grant had said they were lucky some recruits were not able to take visits to other schools. Sounds like some bigger schools were sniffing around Monteverde and looking at Harvey.

We don't have a scholarship to give, so he must be joining as a walk-on.
