Tate seems like the best bet to make a major in state recruiting coup though sounds like Gamecocks have the inside track.

It is telling that we are still going after point guards given what we have in house already(Not only Tate). I wonder if CEG is just hedging here.

Earl is likely selling a 2 pg system. Also Riller showing Tate first hand at the cp3 elite camp has to work in our favor.

Tate would be a fantastic get. EG seems to be leaning in to “position less” basketball so it wouldn’t be a stretch to have 3 “point guards” log major minutes. Frank Martin stole Trae Hannibal from us last year - hope we can fend him off this time around if Tate wants to stay in state (like Hannibal did).

Priority number one has to be a big and we should be able to get a good one in the 2020 class. Can almost promise playing time in year 1.

On a different but related note, Elon has had a quietly good offseason.

CEG helped mold Chealey and Riller from 2-star guard prospects into NBA talents. That's a pretty strong selling point IMO. Hopefully King is holding steady with his recruiting pitch, along with Riller. Tate has his campus visit scheduled for later this month.

And +1 on Elon, Cougie Monster. They're building a really solid foundation.

Tate commits to Butler...
On a quick glance looks like their depth chart is more favorable for him. Maybe if he gets homesick we can bring him in oh well.

Tate would have been a nice recruiting coup but guard isn’t our number one priority in this recruiting class. There are several skilled bigs in our geographic recruiting base. If we land one of the higher end guys, this class will be a success.

One of the local skilled bigs is off the board. Patrick Iriel committed to South Carolina.

Ugh. Dean Reiber committed to Rutgers. 6-9 skilled big from North Carolina... would have loved for him to be a cougar. Oh well, can’t win them all

Saw that today. Apparently, he was a legacy at Rutgers, so that choice makes sense. He looks like he will be very good.

Good big man from Columbia. His final 2 are us and South Carolina. We've been on him for years. He would be a really good get for us. Him and King in the frontcourt together would be awesome.

D'avian Houston pg committed

Interesting. Wonder if Earl is covering his bases if he loses someone.

Earl's style of play lends itself to guards and wings. We will always have a lot of those positions on the roster. This kid looks like he can really handle the ball, is a defensive beast, and can hit a shot. That fits the mold of what CEG looks for in a guard.

Just watched his video and read the recruiting news. Pretty stocky kid who shoots left-handed. Good ball handler, really good defensively, and decent shooter. Looks like a solid guard prospect.

He apparently got really sick a few years ago and lost a lot of motor skills in the process. Took him over a year to get back to normal. Could turn out to be an under the radar guy. Will be interesting to see how his senior season goes.

Here’s the videos: https://mobile.twitter.com/DAHouston3/s ... 2212911107

He and his teammate were two of our first offer’s for 2020.
His teammate committed to Seton Hall.

Now we are in need of a C & PF!!

RJ Ogom was on campus for what I assume was an official visit. 6-5 jack of all trades type of player from Chicago.

Nick McMullen, big we had offered committed to Murray st.
