Less than 2 weeks. Losing Cam and Joe are we in a rebuild or reload mode this year. If I had Hungrys maroon glasses I would say reload. Just looking forward to this first glimpse of the season.

We lost 2 starting guards in a guard dominated league. While I think Pointer will be decent he is not Chealey. Until we see Cams replacement we have no idea. I am cautiously optimistic but you never know working the new pieces into the starting line up exactly what you will have.

I think I'll cautiously trust the coaching staff. Swamp might be visually impaired by not wearing the maroon tinted glasses.
Seriously, I like our starting guards, backups will be coached up. 4 & 5 starters good, barring foul trouble. The battle to start will be at 3. Maybe covered by committee at first.
I trust the staff in recruiting & coaching. Looking to go back to NCAA, hopefully East of the Mississippi this time.
Who's going to Florida in November? We have family of 10 going for basketball & WDW.

First I definately trust the coach. Second to me reload means as good as last year. If not you are rebuilding. Third I am cautiously optimistic we will be as good as last year.
We play 3 guards and not a true 3. We lost 2 of our starting guards Pointer will be good but probably not as good as Joe. Riller should be better. I think Richard potentially better than Cam if that is our third starting guard. Richard is the one I am hearing will replace Can.

On another subject Phenom Hoops thinks next years class will be better than some power 5 classes. I just hope they sign everyone in the early signing period

Scrimmage today against Georgia Southern. Very interested to hear who starts a) over Pointer (probably Zep is my guess) and b) on the wing at guard/small forward. The latter is the big question mark these next two weeks. Richard, Galloway, McManus, even Moore could be candidates.

Would be highly surprised McManus being moved back outside after being used as a sub for Brantley last year.

I agree. He'd have to change his body and game again. Putting him there mostly due to his experience, which is more than Galloway/Moore/Richard/Jasper combined.

Fully expecting Zap and Richard to start exhibition since Pointer and McManus both nursing injuries. I know EG said all will be ready for start of season but think he was referring to first real game. I say Richard only because of rumors. Have not watched any practices this year

One guy not mentioned in this thread that may be our wild card for this year is Sam Miller. He can really play. Think Willis Hall but taller. He can really shoot mid-range and 3s, he can bang inside, and he can score inside. When he plays (mid-December), he will be unguardable in our league. If he and JB play at the same time, I don't know how CAA teams will match up with either.

Definitely not a rebuilding year, but certainly some question marks.
Need to do some healing also: Pointer (arm), McManus (out of soft cast) &
Miller (still in a soft cast).

Freshmen + Newbee's will be contributing more than normal.
So far I think Richard, Jasper will be pleasant surprises on the offensive side!
Moore will get some minutes at the 3 spot. Will get better when he get used
to the speed of the game! Is anyone Redshirting? Maybe McCluney??

we won the the scrimmage in OT... apparently we did some good things but mostly sloppy. Pointer wont be ready for opener but McManus might be. GA Southern has a talented squad

We were without Pointer, Miller, McManus, and McCluney for the exhibition and still won.

Went to practice tonight and can't tell you how impressed I am with Zep Jasper. He plays really hard, takes pride in defense, and was 6/7 from three during 5v5. His shot has really improved. He's going to be very good this year - potential freshman of the year for CAA.

Regarding our freshmen, here are my early thoughts based upon 1 practice. Richard is ridiculously athletic, has a decent shot, and has the potential to be a really good swing player for us on both offense and defense. He's a little raw at this point and was lost a few times at practice, but has good potential. McCluney has a long frame and has more of a college body. He scored a few times in the lane and on a mid-range jumper. He will have to work on his long range shooting. He is also athletic and shows a lot of promise. He seemed to be in the flow on both ends of the floor. Moore is really long (about 6'10" with long arms) but is really skinny. He has a really smooth shot for a kid that big. He was good at rebounding but was getting muscled by Brantley and Smart. A little maturity and time in the weight room will really help him, but he will be a nightmare matchup in the CAA.

Odd or Even Teams, by jersey numbers-

Odd Team-

1- 21
2- 1
3- 5
4- 3 or 11
5- 23 or 33

Even Team-

1- 10
2- 0
3- 2
4- 24
5- 40

Don't like Brantley at 3? Ask him if he'd like it.
That leaves RS for McCluney

Clemson shooting guard AJ Oliver is transferring and has us, Middle Tennessee and ODU as his final three. He'll be at the Rhode Island game on Tuesday. Former 4-star prospect who I believe redshirted his true freshman year. Couldn't crack the rotation at Clemson but played well toward the end of the year.

We already have 4 commits for next year with 3 known openings. The math for him to come here does not add up

Good point. Unless there's a transfer out and a recruit going to prep school.
